On Saturday evening in the central park, there was a live concert with several Ecuadorian singers backed up by the Cotacachi Municipal Band. Afterwards, about an hour long shhttps://youtu.be/EVZzxyKNTxcow directed at the many children in attendance. The park was packed with people, with many vendors selling all kinds of stuff – LED lit balloons seemed to be the favourite for the kids.
After all the music and celebrations, the mayor of Cotacachi came on the stage and gave a speech, then a countdown. The park lit up all at once with some very beautiful decorations. I observed all the hullabaloo from my rooftop patio. After everything was lit up, I wandered down to get some better photos. It was quite the spectacle.
