Our second to last day of our 2022 adventure took us from Golden and over Roger’s Pass to Revelstoke where we said goodbye to Niels. He headed onward and west towards Kamloops and home while we turned south on Hiway 23 towards the Shelter Bay ferry and south to Nakusp.
We arrived safely in Nakusp and checked into our motel – The Lodge at Arrow Lakes. This is a lovely motel with a beautiful restaurant/bar attached. They cater to a lot of car and motorcycle clubs in the summer and act as the main lodge for a Heli-skiing operation in the winter months.
Once checked in, we went for a stroll down the main street and got caught in a horrendous downpour! We sheltered in a local craft store until it stopped and then took a walk along the waterfront. The town has created a wonderful walking area along the lakeside with gardens and benches. A truly peaceful and welcoming place to be on our last day on the road.
We enjoyed a delicious meal in the restaurant at the lodge and had a great restful evening. The next day, we headed out on the long ride from Nakusp back to Vancouver via Hwy 6 to Castlegar and then Hwy 3 back in to Hope and then home. We didn’t stop for pictures as we have been on this route many times before in our travels. This brought us to the end of a very long but memorable trip with friends that we enjoy riding with – Doug and Cathy Wilkins. I am sure there will be more in the future.
