We booked our flights to Mexico with Aero Mexico and got a midnight flight direct from Vancouver to Mexico City. The flight was uneventful and we landed in Mexico City with a planned layover of 6 hours. We took the bus from the newer international terminal over to the older terminal 1 and settled in for our wait. Terminal one in Mexico City is HUGE. 78 gates all in one long line – about a mile long at least. We found our departure gate and then went in to Chilis for breakfast. Mexican food and beer!! Giselle settled for bacon and eggs and coffee….Our vacation has started!
Our flight into Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa airport took about an hour. We took a taxi to our hotel – Villas Ema – just off the Playa Ropa on the south end of Zihuatanejo. We checked into our room and settled in. We were invited to dinner with Danny and Rose at a high end restaurant on the other end of the beach. The sunset was spectacular!
After a beautiful dinner, we walked back to our room, totally exhausted from our long day and a half of travelling.
