October Falling Leaves Ride

In early October, we planned a Falling Leaves Ride for the Chapter.  Normally, we would head down into Washington State for this because there are so many beautiful roads along the west side of the mountains to get lost on.  Because of COVID, the border is closed, so we made do with a ride through Southwestern BC.

It started out by going over the Duffey Lake road to Lillooet.  We fueled up there then headed over to Cache Creek where we stopped for a bite to eat.

From Cache Creek we headed down to Ashcroft and then climbed up towards Logan Lake.  Just before Logan Lake there is a newly paved road called Tunkwa Lake Road.  It twists and turns it way all the way up to Savona on the Trans Canada Hiway.  It is ranch country with lots of cattle guards, and cows!  Here is a video I made while we rode this stretch of road…

After Tunkwa Lake we headed into Kamloops and onto highway 5A to Quilchena and Merritt.  This is another beautiful twisty stretch of highway with some pretty lakes along the way.  After a fuel and ice cream stop in Merritt, we continued down 5A to Princeton – another beautiful stretch of twisty road.  We fueled up in Princeton then headed back to Hope and on to Chilliwack where we stopped in at Friendly Mikes for dinner.  Another very long Chapter A fall ride!

The videos are recorded by my camera system I installed on the bike earlier this year.  It is a Blueskysea B1M setup with cameras mounted front and back.  It has a 128GB memory card in it that can record a full day of video.  I track all my rides on my Garmin Zumo 595LMS GPS unit.  I use Garmin Basecamp to download the GPX file for the day onto my laptop, then upload the file to the Relive App.  Photos taken during the day are added in based on time and GPS location, music and comments are added, and voila!  A cool video presentation of the day’s ride. Enjoy!
