We woke up this morning to about 8″ of fresh, heavy, wet snow. The drive to the airport at 4:15 was uneventful…the subaru loves the snow! We arrived at the airport to what was supposed to be a 25 minute delay. After about an hour and a half, we finally took off. De-icing and just washing the snow off the wings took about half an hour…
Our 7:00 AM flight finally took off at 8:30. Good thing our layover in Dallas was 3 hours…. I had a window seat but there was nothing to see until the clouds finally gave way to clear skies as we flew over Pikes Peak and Colorado Springs, where I spent my teenage years. It brought back a few memories.
We landed in Dallas with about an hour and a half to spare before our next flight into Quito. Rose had passes into a traveller lounge where we had a few drinks and snacks while waiting for our flight. We landed in Quito around midnight eager to get some sleep and start our adventure.
